Project History
The Lifelines summer project has been in existence since 2001. The project stemmed from the outdoor ministry called Lifelines, originated at The University of Maine. From the beginning the purpose and success of the project revolved around allowing students to be involved in a grace and truth environment for an extended period of time. We operate and believe deeply in the premise that grace and truth over time equals growth.
The 2001 Lifelines project was in Colorado, based out of Fort Collins. This was the first attempt at merging a staff/student project. Coaches trained staff facilitators who then practiced their skills in team building and process learning with student groups.
In 2002 the project moved to Sugarloaf, Maine. The staff/student project was a huge success, with rewarding life change across the project and a number of staff and students making career changes to pursue ministry, and the Lifelines ministry in particular.
In 2006 we moved the project to Acadia National park and it has been there since. We just fell in love with the beautiful surroundings of the park and the quaint town of Bar Harbor. In 2008 the Lifelines team made the decision to launch a second summer project out west in the Rocky Mountains. Both projects were a great success and we see them continuing to grow as God uses them to change the lives of everyone involved.
The Lifelines campus ministry continues to grow as well. We are currently on five campuses full time across the nation. We are excited that God continues to provide resources and opportunities to build the summer projects and local ministries, and we eagerly anticipate what He has in store for 2010 and the years to come.
